Our Story
A message from Bev and Tony
We moved to Mijas Pueblo after the Covid Pandemic and wanted to bring our two passions together: Bev’s love of art and Tony’s love of wine. It has taken us a year to turn an unused empty shop into a vibrant, creative and welcoming space. Our aim is to ignite your interest and senses and provide an uplifting experience to curious visitors. We want to engage with our local community of artists and residents and promote the delicious flavours of Spanish wine from Andalucia and beyond.
We have made many of the fixtures and fittings by hand ourselves, with amazing support from local artists and craftspeople, such as artist Joshua Van den Eeden, who has created a beautiful bar, which is our pride and joy.
‘Kindness is finer than any other gift’.
Our daughter wrote these lyrics when she was 16 and they have been inscribed on the bar in English and Spanish. They sum up the essence of our hope for Iroko, in a time of such uncertainty and conflict, an important part of being human is care and consideration for others.
All are welcome to Iroko, and we look forward to meeting you as we are now open to the public.
